Excluding Hybrids



Condition



Some customers may comment on a pop, click or clunk noise at low speeds when going over bumps and can be felt through the column to steering



wheel.



Cause



This condition may be caused by a worn steering gear bushing.



Correction



Replace the steering gear bushing and inner tie rod boot clamp. DO NOT REPLACE the steering gear for this condition.



1. Raise the vehicle.



2. Remove the oil pan skid plate, if equipped.



3. Remove the steering gear mount bolts.



4. Remove the power steering gear boot clamps and slide the power steering gear boot out of the way.

5. Slide the power steering gear mount and bushing to the right.



6. Remove the power steering gear bushing from the mount.



7. Replace the power steering gear mount bushing.



8. Slide the mount and bushing back in place.



9. Slide the power steering gear boot back in place and install clamps.



10. Install the steering gear mounting bolts.



Tighten



Tighten the bolts to 100 Nm (74 lb ft).



11. Install the oil pan skid plate, if equipped.



12. Lower the vehicle.

Diagnostic Aids



* The engine oil condition has a major impact on the camshaft actuator system.



* A low oil level condition may set this DTC. The engine may require an oil change. Inquire with the customer when the last oil change was



performed. You may also monitor the scan tool Engine Oil Life parameter. Advise the customer an oil change may be required.



* Inspect the engine for any recent engine mechanical repairs. An incorrectly installed camshaft, camshaft actuator, or timing chain can cause



this DTC to set.



Circuit/System Verification



Note: The engine oil level and the oil pressure are critical to the correct operation of the camshaft position actuator system. Verify that the



engine has the correct oil level and the correct oil pressure before continuing with this diagnostic.



1. Ignition ON, observe the scan tool DTC information. Verify that none of the following DTCs are set. DTC P0016, P0017, P0018, P0019,



P0335, P0336, P0338, P0341, P0342, P0343, P0346, P0347, P0348, P0366, P0367, P0368, P0391, P0392, P0393, P0521, P0522, P0523,



P0638, P2100, P2101, P2102, P2103, or P2119.



瀚慖f any of the DTCs are set, refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle (See: Diagnostic Trouble Code



Descriptions/Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle) for further diagnosis.



2. Engine idling, command the appropriate Camshaft Position Actuator from 0 degrees to 40 degrees and back to zero while observing the



appropriate scan tool Camshaft Position Variance parameters. The Camshaft Position Variance should be less than 2 degrees in each of the



commanded states.



3. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC to verify the DTC does not reset. You may also operate the vehicle within the



conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.



Circuit/System Testing



1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate Q6 Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valve.



2. Ignition ON, load test for B+ between the ignition circuit terminal 1 and ground.



瀚慖f less than the specified range, test the ignition voltage circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal



and the ignition circuit fuse is open, test all the components connected to the ignition circuit and replace as necessary.



Note: Use the J 35616-200 - Test Lamp Kit for this test. If the J 35616-200 - Test Lamp Kit is not available, use a test lamp that measures



greater than 20 ohm.



3. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 2 and B+.



Note: The voltage must be measured at the control side of the circuit.



4. Command the appropriate Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valve ON with a scan tool. Load test for less than 1 V between the control



circuit terminal 2 and ground.



瀚慖f greater than the specified range, test the control circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit/connections test normal, replace the



K20 Engine Control Module.



5. Remove the Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valve. Inspect the Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valve and mounting area for the



following conditions:



* For a torn, restricted, mis-positioned, or missing screens at the Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valve



* For engine oil leaks between the oil sealing lands of the Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valve. Inspect the lands of the Camshaft



Position Actuator Solenoid Valve for nicks



* For oil seepage at the Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valve connector



瀚慖f a condition is found, replace Q6 Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valve.



6. Ignition OFF, swap the appropriate Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valve with a Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valve that is



operating correctly.



7. Engine idling. Command the appropriate Camshaft Position Actuator from 0 degrees to 40 degrees and back to zero while observing the



appropriate scan tool Camshaft Position Variance parameters. The Camshaft Position Variance should be less than 2 degrees in each of the



commanded states.



瀚慖f greater than the specified value, replace the mechanical camshaft position actuator.



8. If all circuits/connections test normal, test or replace the Q6 Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valve.

4. If all circuits test normal, replace the seat motor.

Circuit/System Description



The pump motor is an integral part of the brake pressure modulator valve assembly, while the pump motor relay is integral to the electronic brake



control module (EBCM). The pump motor relay is not engaged during normal system operation. When the ABS, traction control or stability control



operation is required, the EBCM activates the pump motor relay and turns the pump motor ON.



Conditions for Running the DTC



Ignition ON.

Diagnostic Fault Information



Circuit/System Description



The body control module (BCM) energizes the rear fog lamp by applying voltage to the rear fog lamp control circuit. When the rear fog lamp



control circuit is energized the rear fog lamp is illuminated.



Conditions for Running the DTC



Rear fog lamp activated



Conditions for Setting the DTC



The BCM detects a short to ground on the rear fog lamp control circuit.



Action Taken When the DTC Sets



The rear fog lamp will be inoperative.



Conditions for Clearing the DTC



* The DTC will be current for as long as the fault is present.



* When the fault is no longer present, the DTC will be a history DTC.



* A history DTC will clear after 50 ignition cycles.

Ignition ON, vary the interior backlighting from dim to full bright by using the dimmer switch. The interior backlighting should dim and then



become full bright.



Circuit/System Testing



1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the S26 Hazard Lamps Switch.



2. Test for less than 5 ohm between the ground circuit terminal 1 and ground.



瀚慖f greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.



3. Connect a test lamp between the backlight control circuit of the S26 Hazard Lamps Switch terminal 5 and ground.



4. Ignition ON, vary the interior lamp dimming switch from dim to full bright. The test lamp should dim and then become full bright.



瀚慖f the test lamp cannot be dimmed, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 Body Control



Module.



瀚慖f the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for open/high resistance or short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the



K9 Body Control Module.



5. If all circuits test normal, replace the S26 Hazard Lamps Switch.

Circuit/System Verification



Ignition ON, observe the function of the trailer tail lamps while commanding the Trailer Park Lamps ON and OFF with a scan tool. The trailer tail



lamps should turn ON and OFF while changing between the commanded states.



Circuit/System Testing



1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the trailer park lamp relay.



2. Ignition ON, verify a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal 86 and ground.



瀚慖f the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.



3. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 85 and the B+ circuit terminal 86.



4. Command the Trailer Park Lamps ON and OFF with a scan tool. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF when changing between the



commanded states.



瀚慖f the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace



the K9 BCM.



瀚慖f the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 BCM



5. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the trailer park lamp relay.



Component Testing



Relay Test



1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the trailer park lamp relay.



2. Test for 60-180 ohm between terminals 85 and 86.



瀚慖f not within the specified range, replace the trailer park lamp relay.



3. Test for infinite resistance between the following terminals:



* 30 and 86



* 30 and 87



* 30 and 85



* 85 and 87



瀚慖f not the specified value, replace the trailer park lamp relay.



4. Install a 5 A fused jumper wire between relay terminal 85 and 12 V. Install a jumper wire between relay terminal 86 and ground. Test for less



than 2 ohm between terminals 30 and 87.



瀚慖f greater than the specified range, replace the trailer park lamp relay.

Circuit/System Testing



Driver Window Switch Malfunction



1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the S79D window switch-driver.



2. Ignition ON, verify that the scan tool Driver Window Main Control Down Switch parameter is Inactive.



瀚慖f not the specified value, test the control circuit terminal 3 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the M74D



window motor-driver.



3. Verify that the scan tool Driver Window Main Control Up Switch parameter is Inactive.



瀚慖f not the specified value, test the control circuit terminal 6 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the M74D



window motor-driver.



4. Verify that the scan tool Driver Window Main Control Express Switch parameter is Inactive.



瀚慖f not the specified value, test the control circuit terminal 2 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the M74D



window motor-driver.



5. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the S79D window switch-driver.



Passenger Switch Window Malfunction



1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the S79P window switch-passenger.



2. Ignition ON, test for greater than 10V between the signal circuit terminal listed below and ground:



* Signal circuit terminal 6



* Signal circuit terminal 7



* Signal circuit terminal 8

The parking brake control module has an internal counter which keeps track of dynamic applies. When the counter reaches the threshold value this



DTC will set.

* The parking brake control module clears the history DTC when a current DTC is not detected in 100 consecutive drive cycles.

Diagnostic Fault Information



Circuit Description



The heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) heater reduces the time required for the oxygen sensor to reach operating temperature and maintains the



operating temperature during extended idle periods. When the ignition is turned to the ON position, ignition voltage is supplied directly to the



sensor heater. The Engine Control Module (ECM) controls the heater operation by first modulating the control circuit to ground when the sensors



are cold. This prevents the possibility of thermal shock to the sensor, from condensation build-up on the sensor, by controlling the sensors rate of



heating. After a predetermined amount of time, the ECM commands the heaters ON continuously. Once the sensor reaches operating temperature,



the ECM may modulate the heater control circuit to ground, to maintain a desired temperature.



The ECM controls the heater by grounding the control circuit with a solid state device called a driver. The driver is equipped with a feedback



circuit that is pulled-up to voltage. The ECM can determine if the control circuit is open, shorted to ground, or shorted to a voltage by monitoring



the feedback voltage.

Circuit/System Description



During a side or frontal crash of sufficient force the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) will allow current to flow through the



deployment loop in order to deploy an air bag. There are 2 shorting bars used within the module connector which will short together control



circuits, when the connector is disconnected. This will help to prevent unwanted deployment of the air bag or pretensioner during servicing.



Conditions for Running the DTC



Ignition voltage is between 9-16 V.

When a window switch is pressed on the driver window switch, a serial data message is sent to the body control module (BCM). The BCM



examines the request and checks for messages from other power window motors prohibiting the window movement. If no prohibitive messages



have been received, the BCM will send a serial data message to the passenger window motor or to the appropriate rear window switch which will



perform the command as requested.



Conditions for Running the DTC



* The ignition switch is in the ON position



* Battery voltage must be between 9-16 V.



Conditions for Setting the DTC



B3205 00, B3210 00



The BCM has detected that the compatibility code stored in the affected window motor does not match the compatibility code stored in the BCM.



B3205 39, B3210 39, B3215 39, B3220 39



An internal malfunction has been detected by the BCM in the power window motor while commanding the window UP or DOWN.

The BCM will automatically attempt to download the calibration program into the appropriate window motor (As will occur when the window



motor has been replaced), if the first calibration program fails to load, the BCM will attempt to download the calibration program a second time. If



this download fails, the BCM will set appropriate DTC.

The BCM detects that a window motor is "not normalized" which will occur under the following conditions:



* When the battery has been disconnected



* When the battery has been replaced



* When the door wiring harness has been disconnected



* When the window motor has been disconnected.

Important

Some vehicles may exhibit a clunk noise that can be heard on a 2-3 upshift or a 3-2 downshift.



During a 2-3 upshift, the 2-4 band is released and the 3-4 clutch is applied. The timing of this shift can cause a momentary torque reversal of the



output shaft that results in a clunk noise. This same torque reversal can also occur on a 3-2 downshift when the 3-4 clutch is released and the 2-4



band applied. This condition may be worse on a 4-wheel drive vehicle due to the additional tolerances in the transfer case.



This is a normal condition. No repairs should be attempted.

Where Can TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline Be Purchased?



The TOP TIER program began in the U.S. and Canada on May 3, 2004. Some fuel marketers have already joined and introduced TOP TIER



Detergent Gasoline. This is a voluntary program and not all fuel marketers will offer this product. Once fuel marketers make public announcements,



they will appear on a list of brands that meet the TOP TIER standards.



Who developed TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline standards?



TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline standards were developed by six automotive companies: BMW, General Motors, Honda, Toyota, Volkswagen and



Audi.



Why was TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline developed?



TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline was developed to increase the level of detergent additive in gasoline. In the U.S., government regulations require



that all gasoline sold in the U.S. contain a detergent additive. However, the requirement is minimal and in many cases, is not sufficient to keep



engines clean. In Canada, gasoline standards recommend adherence to U.S. detergency requirements but do not require it. In fact, many brands of



gasoline in Canada do not contain any detergent additive. In order to meet TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline standards, a higher level of detergent is



needed than what is required or recommended, and no metallic additives are allowed. Also, TOP TIER was developed to give fuel marketers the



opportunity to differentiate their product.



Why did the six automotive companies join together to develop TOP TIER?



All six corporations recognized the benefits to both the vehicle and the consumer. Also, joining together emphasized that low detergency and the



intentional addition of metallic additives is an issue of concern to several automotive companies.

TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline will help keep engines cleaner than gasoline containing the "Lowest Additive Concentration" recommended by

Condition



Some customers may comment on hearing a tapping, clicking or ticking noise at the windshield area. This condition occurs more frequently while



driving at highway speeds and could be exaggerated on vehicles with front bug guard deflectors.



Cause



This condition may be caused by air/wind causing the windshield side reveal moldings to move, generating a noise.



Correction



Remove both windshield reveal moldings, add double-sided tape and re-install the moldings following the steps below:



1. Using tape (1) or a grease pencil, mark the position of the inboard edge (2) of both left and right reveal moldings onto the windshield,



following the contour of the molding.



2. Remove the left and right windshield side reveal moldings. Refer to Windshield Side Reveal Molding Replacement in SI.



3. Being careful not to affect the tape or grease pencil marks, clean and prep the glass at the seal interface with Glass Adhesion Promoter, P/N



12378555 (in Canada, use 88901239).

4. Apply 3M Automotive Adhesion Promoter 06396, or equivalent, to the underside of the reveal molding seals.



Tip



An approximate 600 mm (24 in) length of tape should allow for overlap at the top to be trimmed back leaving a tail of release liner (1) and, at



minimum, should reach the fender cut line at the bottom.



5. Apply a 600 mm (24 in) length of 3M Automotive Acrylic Plus Attachment Tape 06386 (1.14 mm (0.045 in) thick x 6.35 mm (0.25 in)



wide), or equivalent, to both sides of the windshield. Ensure the tape (1) position is centered between the windshield edge (2) and the



tape/grease pencil line (3). Do not remove the release lining from the tape yet.



6. Reinstall the reveal molding to one side by sliding the molding downward and ensuring that the top lip is engaged at the upper edge of the



windshield.

7. Install the fasteners to the reveal molding, starting from the top. Refer to Windshield Side Reveal Molding Replacement in SI.



8. Lifting the top edge of the reveal molding, grab the tail of the release lining and pull downward removing the lining.



9. Press or roll the reveal molding against the windshield ensuring adhesion of the tape to the glass.



10. Repeat steps 6-9 on the opposite side.



11. Remove tape or clean the grease pencil marks from the windshield.



12. If positioned correctly, trimming of the double sided tape should not be necessary, however inspect the reveal moldings for any tape not



covered and trim off any exposed tape.



Important



After taping the windshield reveal moldings, avoid washing the vehicle as well as excessive contact with the windshield reveal moldings for



a minimum of 72 hours.

* The SDM requests the instrument cluster to illuminate the AIR BAG indicator.



* The SDM will store a DTC, however if an event occurs the system will still attempt deployments.



Conditions for Clearing the DTC



* The condition for setting the DTC no longer exists.



* A history DTC will clear once 100 malfunction-free ignition cycles have occurred.



Diagnostic Aid



Note: The following diagnostic aids apply for both current and history DTCs.



An incorrectly installed CPA or incorrectly seated connector can cause a shorting bar to short both control circuits together. Check the connectors



and CPAs if a DTC with symptom byte 02 or 0E is set, to ensure the shorting bars are not causing the circuits to be shorted together. Shorting bars



are used in the locations listed below:



* Passenger instrument panel air bag



* Driver and passenger seat side air bags



* Left and right roof rail air bags



* Driver and passenger seat belt retractor pretensioners



* SDM



* Inline connectors - on the side of the harness connector



* Harness side of the SDM connector



Terminal fretting or incorrectly seated connector can cause an open/high resistance condition. Check the circuit terminals for fretting or incorrectly



seated connector if a DTC with symptom byte 04 or 0D is set. If DTCs of deployment loops which are in the seat DTC B0014 and B0021, can



occur because of stress or damage to the harness due to seat movement. Move the seat to the full extend of travel while using the scan tool to



observe deployment type loop parameters.



If the pretensioner, passenger instrument panel or side air bag has inflated under unexpected conditions and/or DTC with symptom byte 01 is set,



check both control circuits for a short to voltage.

Circuit/System Verification



Ignition ON, observe the scan tool Trunk Lid/Liftglass Exterior Unlatch Switch parameter while pressing the exterior liftgate switch. The reading



should change between Active and Inactive.



Circuit/System Testing



1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the exterior liftgate switch.



2. Test for less than 1.0 ohm between the ground circuit terminal 2 and ground.



瀚慖f greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.



3. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Trunk Lid/Liftglass Exterior Unlatch Switch parameter is Inactive.



瀚慖f not the specified parameter, test the signal circuit terminal 1 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.



4. Install a 3 A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 1 and the ground circuit terminal 2. Verify the scan tool Trunk



Lid/Liftglass Exterior Unlatch Switch parameter is Active.



瀚慖f not the specified parameter, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the



BCM.



5. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the exterior liftgate switch.



Component Testing

2. Test for infinite resistance between the signal terminal 1 and the ground terminal 2 with the switch in the open position.

Circuit/System Description



The camshaft position actuator system enables the Engine Control Module (ECM) to change the timing of the camshafts while the engine is



operating. The camshaft position actuator solenoid signal from the ECM is pulse width modulated (PWM). The ECM controls the camshaft position



actuator solenoid duty cycle by controlling the amount of solenoid ON time. The camshaft position actuator solenoid controls the advance or the



retard of each camshaft. The camshaft position actuator solenoid controls the oil flow that applies the pressure to advance or retard the camshafts.

This bulletin is being revised to add model years. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 00-00-90-002J (Section 00 - General Information).



Important



- Adjustment of tire pressure for a customer with a Low Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) light on and no codes in the TPM system is



NOT a warrantable repair. Claims to simply adjust the tire pressure will be rejected.



- ALL tires (including the spare tire) MUST be set to the recommended inflation pressure stated on the vehicle's tire placard (on



driver's door) during the PRE-DELIVERY INSPECTION (PDI). Recommended inflation pressure is not the pressure printed on tire



sidewall.



- Tires may be over-inflated from the assembly plant due to the mounting process.



- Generally a 5.6掳C (10掳F) temperature change will result in (is equivalent to) a 6.9 kPa (1 psi) tire pressure change.



- 2008-2009 HUMMER H2 Only - The H2 comes standard with Light Truck "D" Load Range tires with a recommended cold inflation



pressure of 289 kPa (42 psi). These tires will alert the driver to a low pressure situation at roughly 262 kPa (38 psi) due to a



requirement in FMVSS 138 which specifies a Minimum Activation Pressure for each tire type. This creates a relatively narrow



window of "usable" pressure values and the warning will be more sensitive to outside temperature changes during the colder



months.



As with other cold temperature/tire pressure issues, there is nothing wrong with the system itself. If a vehicle is brought in with this



concern, check for tire damage and set all tires to the Recommended Cold Inflation Pressure shown on the vehicle placard.



Accurate tire pressures ensure the safe handling and appropriate ride characteristics of GM cars and trucks. It is critical that the tire pressure be



adjusted to the specifications on the vehicle's tire placard during PDI.



Ride, handling and road noise concerns may be caused by improperly adjusted tire pressure.



The first step in the diagnosis of these concerns is to verify that the tires are inflated to the correct pressures. The recommended tire inflation



pressure is listed on the vehicle's tire placard. The tire placard is located on the driver's side front or rear door edge, center pillar, or the rear



compartment lid.



Tip



- Generally a 5.6掳C (10掳F) temperature increase will result in (is equivalent to) a 6.9 kPa (1 psi) tire pressure increase.



- The definition of a "cold" tire is one that has been sitting for at least 3 hours, or driven no more than 1.6 km (1 mi).



- On extremely cold days, if the vehicle has been outdoors, it may be necessary to compensate for the low external temperature by adding



additional air to the tire during PDI.



- During cold weather, the Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) indicator light (a yellow horseshoe with an exclamation point) may illuminate. If this



indicator turns off after the tires warm up (reach operating temperature), the tire pressure should be reset to placard pressure at the cold



temperature.



- The TPM system will work correctly with nitrogen in tires.



- The TPM system is compatible with the GM Vehicle Care Tire Sealant but may not be with other commercially available sealants.



Important



- Do not use the tire pressure indicated on the tire itself as a guide.



- Always inspect and adjust the pressure when the tires are cold.



- Vehicles that have different pressures for the front and the rear need to be adjusted after tire rotation.



Improper tire inflation may result in any or all of the following conditions:



- Premature tire wear

and unlatch allowing the driver door to be pulled open.

Passenger and Rear Door Release Command Malfunction

Circuit/System Description



The driver door handle antenna is located in the driver door handle assembly and is used to establish low frequency communications with the



keyless entry transmitter. As a vehicle with locked doors is approached with a keyless entry transmitter and the exterior door handle is pulled, the



keyless entry control module communicates with the driver door handle keyless entry antenna.



Conditions for Running the DTC



* The touch pad in the driver door handle is touched within 15 minutes of last door closing.



* The front or rear door handle on the driver side is pulled.



Conditions for Setting the DTC

The keyless entry control module detects a short to ground on the driver door keyless entry antenna signal circuit.

Circuit/System Description



The ignition mode switch has 2 LED's that indicate the vehicle power mode. When the vehicle is in the off mode, both LED's will be off. Pressing



the ignition mode switch button once (without the brake pedal applied), the vehicle enters the accessory mode and the amber LED (ACC) will



illuminate. Pressing the ignition mode switch button a second time (without the brake pedal applied), the vehicle enters the run/start mode (without



the engine running) and the green LED (Run/Start) will illuminate. With the ignition off (with the brake pedal applied), pressing the ignition mode



switch button once, the vehicle will enter run/start mode and the green LED (run/start) will illuminate. This will start the engine. Both LED's have



the voltage supplied from the body control module (BCM). The ignition mode switch sends the ignition mode switch status to the passive entry



passive start module (PEPS) and to the BCM. The PEPS module sends a redundant signal to the BCM with the ignition mode switch status.



Conditions for Running the DTC



Voltage supplied to the module is in the normal operating voltage range of 9-16 V.



Conditions for Setting the DTC

* The BCM detects a short to battery in the respective indicator control circuit, when the output is active.



* The above condition exists for more than 1 second.

* The BCM detects a short to ground in the respective circuit, when the output is inactive.



* The above condition exists for more than 1 second.

* The BCM detects an open in the respective circuit, when the output is inactive.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets



The BCM disables the respective output until the next ignition cycle.



Conditions for Clearing the DTC



* A current DTC clears when the malfunction is no longer present.



* A history DTC clears when the module ignition cycle counter reaches the reset threshold, without a repeat of the malfunction.

Diagnostic Fault Information



Circuit/System Description



The object sensors are 3-wire sensors that are used to determine the distance between the vehicle and an object of interest. The parking assist



control module supplies 8 V to the object sensors via the 8 V reference circuit and provides ground via the low reference circuit. The parking assist



control module triggers the sensors in a sequential loop. After each sensor transmits, the parking assist control module uses the sensor echo



received through the signal circuit to calculate the distance and position of an object.



Conditions for Running the DTC



* Ignition ON



* The parking assist is activated. The activation takes place through putting in the reverse gear or through operating the parking assist switch.



Conditions for Setting the DTC

This bulletin is being revised to update the Parts Information to remove a part number. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 12-06-01-001A

Condition



Some customers may comment on a service engine soon light being on and/or rough running engine. Technicians may find DTC P0300 set. Upon



further investigation, technicians may find cylinder #1 and #7 spark plugs oil fouled and/or the porcelain may be cracked or broken on the



combustion chamber side.

This occurs on the driver's side (left side) of the engine due to PCV pullover that adds additional oil to the cylinders that can foul out or damage the



spark plugs.



Correction



Important



If Corporate Bulletin Number 10-06-01-008C has been previously performed, then a new valve cover may not need to be installed. Please



look for the second design baffle with the square hole at the end of the baffle.



Install a new left valve cover with the revised baffle to prevent PCV pullover that adds additional oil to the cylinders.
